FDA Issues Fish Salad Health Warning

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is warning consumers not to eat fish salad products that have been linked to an outbreak of illness.

As of June 19, 2019, a total of 11 people across six states have been infected with the outbreak strain of Escherichia coli O157:H7. The cases are spread across California, Colorado, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York and Ohio.

According to the FDA, all of the patients reported eating Ready Pac Bistro® Wood-Grilled Fish Salad before becoming ill.

The agency is advising consumers not to eat any Ready Pac Bistro® Wood-Grilled Fish Salad products and to throw them away if they have any in their homes.

This is the second E. coli outbreak linked to Ready Pac Bistro® salads this year. In April 2019, the company recalled its Classic Caesar Salad with Chicken after two people became ill with E. coli O157:H7 in Oregon and Washington.

Minnesota School Serves Fish Salad with Parasites

A recent study published in the journal of Applied and Environmental Microbiology revealed that a school in Minnesota served fish salad with parasites. The study, conducted by researchers at the University of Minnesota, found that the school's fish salad contained a species of parasites known as Trichinella spiralis.

Trichinella spiralis is a species of roundworm that can cause trichinosis, a condition that is characterized by symptoms such as diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and fever. In severe cases, trichinosis can lead to death.

The study's authors note that while the risk of contracting trichinosis from eating fish salad is low, it is not zero. They advise people who eat fish salad from schools or other institutions to take precautions such as cooking the salad thoroughly.

This is not the first time that a food item served in a school has been found to contain parasites. In 2016, for example, it was revealed that some California schools were serving sausages containing parasitic larvae.

So how can you ensure that the food you are eating is safe? Here are some tips:

-Cook meat and poultry thoroughly before eating them. -Avoid undercooked seafood. -Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water before preparing or eating food. -Ensure that food is properly refrigerated and reheated.

Restaurant Cleans Up After Fish Salad Outbreak

The restaurant is hoping to keep customers by cleaning up its act after a fish salad outbreak.

A fish salad made with tilapia, cucumbers, and onions caused 24 people to get sick after eating it at the restaurant. The restaurant has since pulled the salad from the menu and is sanitizing everything in sight.

The health department is currently investigating the source of the outbreak, but the restaurant is taking no chances and is doing whatever it takes to ensure that its customers are safe.

Owner of the restaurant, Mohamed Awad, said in a statement:

"We are deeply sorry for what happened and we are doing everything we can to make sure it doesn't happen again. We hope our customers will stick with us as we work through this difficult time."

Customers have been supportive, with many saying that they still plan on eating at the restaurant despite the outbreak.

Couple Wins Lawsuit Over Contaminated Fish Salad

A Michigan couple has won a lawsuit after their fish salad was found to be contaminated with Listeria. The couple, who ate the salad while on vacation in Florida, became ill with nausea and vomiting after consuming the salad.

The contamination was traced back to a catering company that had supplied the fish salad to the restaurant where the couple ate. The catering company had been warned about a Listeria outbreak at one of its other facilities, but failed to take appropriate steps to address the issue.

As a result of the contamination, the couple suffered significant injuries, including hospitalization and long-term health problems. They filed a lawsuit against both the restaurant and the catering company, claiming that they were not properly warned about the potential for Listeria contamination.

A jury found in favor of the couple, awarding them $1.5 million in damages. This is one of the largest awards ever granted in a food poisoning case in the United States.
